Congratulations to Sugarland for their first Grammy nomination in the Best New Artist category. Encompassing all genres of music, the category also includes R&B singer Ciara, rockers Fall Out Boy, Brit popsters Keane, and soul singer John Legend.
“When I consider the people who have been nominated for this award in years past, I am humbled and emotional,” says Sugarland’s lead singer Jennifer Nettles. “To represent country music in such an auspicious category is overwhelmingly beautiful. It signifies and validates the power of all types of music!” Sugarland won their very first award two weeks ago at the American Music Awards for Breakthrough Favorite New Artist, another category in which all genres of music were considered.
Upcoming national TV performances for Sugarland include the 2005 Radio Music Awards, Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve and The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.
Sugarland is set to perform their debut single “Baby Girl” on the Radio Music Awards, which will be broadcast live from the Aladdin Resort and Casino in Las Vegas on Monday, December 19 on NBC from 9:00-11:00pm EST.
Sugarland will perform “Something More” and “Down In Mississippi (Up To No Good)” on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve special, which airs December 31 on ABC from 11:30pm-2:00am EST.
And on January 12, Sugarland will perform their current single, “Just Might (Make Me Believe),” on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.
All songs being performed appear on Sugarland’s platinum debut album, Twice The Speed of Life.
