Reckless Kelly will be the featured entertainment as the Houston Astros will celebrate their National League Wild Card Championship with a free “Rally Monday” party October 3 from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. inside Minute Maid Park. Parking is free in the Astros Parking Lots A, B, and C on the east side (Highway 59 side) of the ballpark.
The Minute Maid Park gates open for Rally Monday at 3:30 p.m., with Texas-music favorites Reckless Kelly performing a live set. The Astros will then undergo a team workout beginning at 4:15 p.m. The Rally Monday program will start at 5:00 p.m., followed by another live set by Reckless Kelly. Astros Hall of Fame Broadcaster Milo Hamilton, General Manager Tim Purpura, Manager Phil Garner, and Astros players are scheduled to speak at the rally. The first 7,500 fans attending Rally Monday receive a free rally towel. In addition, there will be discounted concessions – $1 hot dogs, $1 popcorn, $1 nachos, and $2 sodas in souvenir cups – and Astros Wild Card Championship apparel for sale. Astros mascot Junction Jack and the Coca-Cola Park Patrol will be on hand to entertain the crowd.
During Rally Monday, the Astros will be conducting a free register-to-win drawing with the chance to win one of six prizes: a Major League Baseball authenticated game-used base from an Astros National League Division Series game (two winners), a MLB authenticated game-used ball from an Astros NLDS game (two winners), or a pair of Dugout Box tickets to the Houston Astros vs. Atlanta Braves NLDS Game 3 on October 8 at Minute Maid Park (two winners each win a pair).
In celebration of the 2005 postseason, Major League Baseball has designated October 3 as Rally Monday for all of the postseason clubs. Created in 2004, Rally Monday is an annual “baseball holiday” that takes place on the day prior to the start of the postseason to provide fans the opportunity to celebrate their team’s entry into the playoffs.
