Neal McCoy is the Great American Country (GAC) “Artist of the Month” for August.
As “Artist of the Month” McCoy will have a strong presence on the network throughout the month of July. In addition to heavy rotation of his music videos throughout the month, McCoy will appear on GAC’s daily music video request program “CRL” on August 16 with host Suzanne Alexander, and he will guest-host the CRL August 17, 18 and 19 while Alexander takes a planned vacation. Additionally, McCoy will be featured as part of an “Artist of the Month” package at the network’s website.
August 23, 2005 is the official street date for That’s Life, McCoy’s new album being released by 903 Music, the Nashville-based record label he formed earlier this year. The enhanced CD features the current smash radio single “Billy’s Got His Beer Goggles On,” and the song’s music video starring McCoy’s close friend, comedic actor Rob Schneider. McCoy comments, “August is a big month for me. I haven’t had an album out in some time and I’m especially proud of this one. It’s my first album on my own label and I was able to do the songs I want to do just as I want to do them. I’m happy to have the chance to share my excitement with GAC’s audience as ‘Artist of the Month’.”
“Neal has a very passionate fan base that also is a very loyal audience of Great American Country,” said Sarah Trahern, vice president of programming for GAC. “GAC has received good response from our viewers when Neal drops by the studio for an interview or when he has guest-hosted for us in the past, so we expect he will be a popular ‘Artist of the Month’ for the network.”
No other entertainer matches McCoy’s mix of warmth, humor, and willingness to try everything and anything to make sure that the crowd gets its money’s worth at his super-charged shows. Fans have reciprocated by twice voting him “Entertainer of the Year” in the TNN/Music City News Poll, buying more than five million of his albums (including three platinum and one gold), and sending five of his singles to the top of the charts including “Wink,” “No Doubt About It,” and “They’re Playing Our Song,” among the others.
In May of this year, McCoy won the fan-voted Academy of Country Music/Home Depot Humanitarian Award for his on-going efforts with the East Texas Angel Network, the organization he founded with his wife, Melinda, which has raised millions of dollars to support families of children in the area with terminal or life-threatening diseases. The Award also acknowledged McCoy’s work supporting our troops via numerous overseas USO tours.
