Kristen Hall has left Sugarland to focus on songwriting. According to a statement released by Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush, “Kristen has decided that she wants to stay home and write songs, and we support her in that decision.”
A spokesman for Universal Music Group Nashville, which includes the band’s Mercury label, said that Sugarland would continue as a duo, including peforming at the San Antonio Livestock Show on February 11 and opening for Kenny Chesney on his tour beginning March 23 in Dayton, Ohio. Sugarland was voted Favorite New Artist at the American Music Awards and is up for the Best New Artist Grammy. Sugarland will perform “Something More” at the 48th Annual Grammy Awards, broadcast live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 8 from 8:00pm-10:30pm/ET on the CBS Television Networks and 120 countries worldwide.
Kristen Hall statement about leaving Sugarland
“The requirements of performing on the road do not allow time to focus on relationships with other writers and recording artists essential for me to do what I do best — songwriting. That said, I am incredibly appreciative and indebted to Jennifer and Kristian for all the hard work and talent they brought to this band, which has resulted in such great success for us all. We plan to support each other wholeheartedly into the future.”
