Jamey Johnson will be featured at the Downtown Shutdown on Commerce Street in Nashville on March 4, 2009, plus a live webcast at 11:30pm CST at jameyjohnson.com on March 5, 2009. Johnson has sold-out every show he has headlined this year, playing to standing-room-only crowds who know every word to the songs on his critically acclaimed Mercury debut, That Lonesome Song. “Getting on stage and connecting with music fans is what I live for,” says Johnson. “It is amazing to see how many people are showing up to see us play. It’s so cool when every person at the gig starts singing the words to these songs I’ve written. Sometimes the crowd is so loud I just let them have the song.”
Downtown Shutdown is free to the public, with the stage will be set up on Commerce Street between 4th and 5th Avenue in downtown Nashville. Universal Music Group will provide free food and drinks while supplies last.
Holly Williams will open the live Webcast at 11:00pm CST. Stemming from one of the most legendary families in country music, Williams will debut her first country record titled Here With Me this summer. Viewers will need to download the latest version of the Microsoft Silverlight player. The free download is available at: http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight/resources/install.aspx.
In addition, Johnson will be opening shows next week for one of his heroes, the legendary Willie Nelson. “Every show has its own set of challenges,” says Johnson. “However, I’m confident that Willie and I will be able to weed through the difficulties and provide our audience with the best we have to offer each night.”
