George Strait received five nominations for the 2008 CMA Awards, including Entertainer Of The Year, Album Of The Year for Troubador and Male Vocalist Of The Year. The Number One single “I Saw God Today” is up for “Single Of The Year” and its songwriters (Rodney Clawson, Monty Criswell and Wade Kirby) and primary publisher (Big Red Toe, Extremely Loud Music, Steel Wheels Music and Blind Mule Music) are up for “Song Of The Year”. Strait is also nominated in the “Musical Event Of The Year” category for his duet with Kenny Chesney on “Shiftwork”.

The 42nd Annual CMA Awards will be held Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at the Sommet Center in Nashville and broadcast on ABC (8:00-11:00 PM ET/delayed PT).
