Jody Lee Petty has done his time, with the feeling of honky-tonk and a taste of popcountry. Done My Time gives you an understanding of how Jody has gone through life, lyrically beautiful with a backup of music that hits your soul down to your heals to start toe tappin your boots off.
This man gives me the feeling of how I used to listen to country with my grandmother while making sun-tea on the front porch. I could even smell the fresh cut grass on a summer afternoon, just from listening with my earbuds in.
From start to finish Jody’s heritage and inspiration comes through very clear throughout the album.
If your a Merle Haggard, Alabama, Alan Jackson music lover then Jody Lee Petty is the man to cleanse your palette. Normally I would review rock, punk, hip-hop, and other assortments of rock genre music. I grew up listening to honky-tonk, country western, and pop-country genres.
This album was truly a treat to me and did bring me back to a style of country that brought warmth to my heart. From what I heard through the album it was produced/engineered and edited very well. The only thing that I thought was a little out of place was the reverb that was in places that seemed to be unnatural. But, from start to finish it seemed very well placed and that you took your time in dissecting where you wanted things
placed.
