The first event of its kind, the three-day spectacular bridged musicians and fans alike through the numerous guitar exhibits, clinics and ultimately the 11-hour concert at the Cotton Bowl that raised almost $2.5 million for charity.
‘The Crossroads Guitar Festival started with a list of players I admire, musicians whose work on the guitar has inspired legions of others to follow the same path,’ said Clapton. ‘My wish list grew into a three-day event as responses came back with resounding affirmation.’
Royalties from DVD sales will also go to Crossroads Centre, Antigua, founded by Clapton in 1997 to provide treatment and education to chemically dependant persons.
The two-disc set is presented in English 5.1 Dolby surround sound and features alternate angle capabilities where the viewer can choose and toggle between several shots throughout the program. The DVD also includes behind-the-scenes footage, extended interviews, a mini-documentary, a photo gallery, and much more.
Founded in 1997, Crossroads Centre, Antigua was created to provide treatment and education to chemically dependent persons, those with other compulsive addictive behaviors, their families and significant others. Treatment is provided through residential care, family and aftercare programs. The pathway to recovery is founded on the movement toward a change in lifestyle.
