Common Thread is a series of music events celebrating Jennifer Nettles’ philosophy of balanced living thru music, yoga, eco-consciousness, and giving back. “I’m hoping Common Thread will be a multi-genre diverse bill under the ‘common thread’ of activism and community organization. I do believe that one action can cause a ripple and make a difference. So, if you inspire some of your fans to go out into their own communities and effect change, then that’s success.”
The inaugural dates feature Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush, Emily Saliers of Indigo Girls, and Amos Lee weaving together individual and group acoustic performances in the intimate settings of the Vilar Theatre in Beaver Creek (November 20), Wheeler Opera House in Aspen (November 21), and the Santa Fe Armory for the Arts (November 22). A select number of VIP tickets for each performance will be available. VIP ticket holders will attend a silent auction champagne reception with the artists. The silent auction will feature one of a kind artist paintings, photographs, signed memorabilia and lifestyle packages. All proceeds from the event and auction will be donated amongst each performing artists’ charity of choice
Jennifer Nettles’ proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society efforts to eliminate cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service.
Kristian Bush’s proceeds will benefit the American Liver Foundation efforts promoting liver health and disease prevention. ALF provides research, education and advocacy for those affected by liver-related diseases, including hepatitis.
Emily Salier’s proceeds will benefit Honor the Earth’s effort to to create awareness and support for Native environmental issues and to develop needed financial and political resources for the survival of sustainable Native communities. Honor the Earth develops these resources by using music, the arts, the media, and Indigenous wisdom to ask people to recognize our joint dependency on the Earth and be a voice.
Amos Lee’s proceeds will benefit Music & Mentorship Program of Intercultural Family Services efforts to stabilize, strengthen, and unite families and diverse communities using public and private partnerships
