Clint Black threw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the Round Rock Express’s regular season finale at The Dell Diamond in Round Rock, Texas on August 31, 2006. Mayor Nyle Maxwell also took the mound to present Black with an Express team jersey, and officially proclaim September 1 as “Clint Black, Tracy Lawrence, and Kyle Park Day in Round Rock.”
“We’re excited to have one of country music’s most well-known artists out for our final regular season game,” said Express president Jay Miller. “Clint’s made a tremendous effort to be here for our fans and to put on a concert that benefits the Miracle League and the surrounding community.” Black, along with Tracy Lawrence and Kyle Park, performed at The Dell Diamond on Friday, September 1 in a concert benefiting the benefiting the Austin chapter of the Miracle League, which invites children with special needs to take part in America’s Pastime by building special fields and offering various avenues of support. In addition to a portion of the proceeds from the Texas Triple Play concert going to the Miracle League at Town and Country, the venue hosted a silent auction, with 100% of the proceeds going to the charity. Among items up for auction were a jean jacket from Clint Black’s personal closet, packages including artist merchandise, a Tony LaRussa book, a guitar signed by the evening’s performers, and a pair of backstage passes to meet Clint Black before the concert. The Round Rock Express and Nolan Ryan Foundation have so far donated $250,000 toward the Miracle League’s construction of a $700,000 baseball field (conducive to wheelchairs, crutches and braces) for kids with special needs in Central Texas.
